Couples counseling is offered to couples seeking therapeutic support for relationship-related concerns.
Many couples seek counseling to address communication challenges, conflict resolution, trust building or repair, and how to navigate role changes and life transitions while maintaining a strong marriage. Counseling often focuses on understanding how marriage and relationship concerns were modeled for us in our families of origin, how those experiences have shaped our current relational dynamics, and how to build or rebuild a marriage that reflects the spiritual values, commitments, and vision both people bring to the relationship.
Couples counseling sessions are conducted with both individuals meeting together with a licensed clinician. During that visit, your counselor will explain how confidentiality works, how therapy creates a safe and structured environment to work on the relationship, and how to understand what both of you want to gain from counseling. From there, your therapist works collaboratively with you as a couple to identify what goals are going to build and strengthen your relationship, and how often follow-up appointments might happen for you to reach your goals.
